Fire Chiefs & Assistant Chiefs History
In 1974 Leslie K. Gillum was the first Chief with David Powers as
assistant until David moved away. Then Paul Thomas became assistant.
Leslie K. Gillum was chief for 12 years when he gave the position up in
1986 due to working out of town.
Then Joe Shawhan became Chief in 1986 to 1989 and Paul Thomas
served as assistant. In 1989 Joe stepped down to become assistant chief
due to the hours worked. At that time Paul Thomas became chief and
Joe Shawhan became assistant. In 1996 Gregory A Gillum became Chief
and Gregory Webb became assistant. In 1997 Gregory Webb moved out
of District and Paul Thomas because assistant chief and now Gregory A
Gillum is Chief and Paul Thomas serves as Deputy Chief . In 2007
Rodney Thomas and Shane Thomas took over as Battalion Chiefs.
